Evening at the Stray Cat Club

This upcoming Saturday we’ll be attending the Evening at the Stray Cat Club Halloween Party for the first time! The event is hosted by the Stray Cat Alliance and all proceeds go to solving the homeless cat crisis. Stray Cat Alliance is committed to the care and protection of the forgotten strays and feral cats living in the shadows of our world. Their programs are a large piece of the puzzle in creating a No Kill Nation, where a home is found for every healthy or treatable companion animal, feral cats are fixed and properly cared for, and sterilization is readily available. They also contribute to caring for feral cat colonies. To learn more about them please visit their website or become a fan on Facebook and if any of you live in the Los Angeles area you should consider attending too and supporting a fabulous cat cause!

I’ll be sure to take lots of photos at the event to share with you next week. In fact Jake & Micah donated the two fantastic gift baskets below that will be auctioned off at the event.  The first one I named the Lucky Fortune Catnip Toy gift basket and the second one I named the Super Sushi Catnip Toy gift basket. Both are packed with tons of Jake & Micah organic catnip toys and gift items. I heard that both baskets will also be available to bid online as well in case any of you are interested. Once I get more info, I’ll be sure to share that with you all too!

TGIF!

It’s been a seriously LONG week. I’m gonna need a martini or some form of libation at the end of this day to celebrate the coming of the weekend – AT LAST!

Unique LA Spring 2010

Jake & Micah was an exhibitor at the 2nd Annual Unique LA Spring Gift Show this past weekend. As most of you know, we’ve been preparing like crazy. (Thus the infrequency of blog posts.) This is also the first show where I unveiled the newly designed Jake & Micah table setup.

Everything fit perfectly!

This tree branch display was the root of most of my pre-show stress. I knew in my mind what I wanted it to look like and how I intended it to function but I just needed to figure out how to do it! In the end it turned out almost as exactly as I hoped. It drew attention to the table while enabling me to display my bags of organic catnip and small promotional items like magnets and button pins in an interesting way.

My new display pieces are lightweight (YAY!) making my setup and transportation of everything easy and less back breaking…

You should recognize these trays that double as cat beds in their down time. I love that they hold tons of product and showcase everything fabulously!

Boomerangs and Swiss Rolls!

The show was a success! Jake & Micah was in a fabulous location in front of the windows where it was bright and sunny all day. I also happened to be in between all the yummy food vendors and the free drink bar guaranteeing loads of foot traffic in front of the table.

Unique Los Angeles Spring 2010

Once again I’ve been working myself ragged getting prepared for the Unique Los Angeles 2nd Annual Spring Show 2010. This is the first Spring show I’ll be participating in even though I’ve done both the previous Unique Holiday shows. I’ve been working about 18 hrs a day but I’m in pretty decent shape. This year I opted for a tabletop setup so I needed to rework my display in order to fit everything on a 6′ table. I think I have all the kinks worked out and I’ll be sure to post photos of the actual event. It’s going to look a little different as I completely streamlined things but I think it’s a new look that will present our products fabulously! In the meantime here’s a preview. As you may notice my new displays are very cat friendly. In fact I can’t keep them off of them!

Friday Happy Hour!

That’s right… TGIF!

Friday Happy Hour!

I’m a HUGE fan of the cocktail especially the Martini. I think it’s an American pastime that deserves a big resurgence. Not enough people take the time to relax and unwind at the end of a hard day’s work anymore. However cats operate much differently. They know what’s important in life. Work hard, play hard. Their motto is to relax and unwind as often and as much as possible preferable with a big Jake & Micah Organic Catnip Martini Olive! So for the next few weeks I intend to share a Friday Happy Hour photo of different cats… YES!!… enjoying a cocktail olive. This week’s cat is Chicken. She started happy hour so early that she was passed out before dinner, MOL!

NEW Retro Mod Martini Happy Hour!

We’ve been kind of quiet on the blog lately because we’ve been super busy developing new toys this year. One project that has finally come to fruition after a long time of planing are NEW Jake & Micah Organic Catnip Olives. I’ve been wanting to do them for over a year now but just haven’t had the time until now to tackle them. I think these toys are pretty groovy and fun and so does Jonah! He’s thoroughly tested them out! We also wanted to expand our selection of Organic Catnip Boomerangs and have added several new fabric styles to choose from so check out the Jake & Micah website!

Fortune Cookie Day!

Today, Sept 13th is Fortune Cookie Day! Yipee!

Did you even know there was such a day? Some sources say Fortune Cookie Day is also July 20th. The origin of the fortune cookie is also a bit unclear. What we DO know is we can’t get enough of them! People and now kitties alike can’t resist the fabulous fun of the fortune cookie!

Jake & Micah Premium Organic Catnip

Jake & Micah Premium Organic Catnip is finally available! I’ve wanted to offer Jake & Micah Organic Catnip for months now. It was simply a matter of finding the right container and designing the perfect label. After several attempts, I’m finally really happy with the result. The shaker spice container is perfect for sprinkling and the size holds just the right amount of catnip. If your kitty loves Jake & Micah toys then he or she will got nuts for this special catnip we put in each one. It’s a special treat guaranteed to get your kitty rolling, rubbing and running all over! Organically grown in the USA, this catnip is especially sweet and minty and of course free of chemicals and pesticides.
