Jake’s Latest Medical Diagnoses
Shortly after resolving Jonah’s heart worm mystery we noticed a unusual lump on the left side of Jake’s body behind his left paw on top of his ribcage. It’s pretty sizable but flat like a cookie, so on Monday we scheduled an appointment with the vet to get it checked out. The lump seemed unusual to our vet too so he recommended we have Jake x-rayed and a biopsy taken of the lump. Jake had to stay at the vet for a few hours until they could call us back with some results…. Hello 5 hours of suspenseful hell.
So the fortunate thing is that Jake didn’t need to be gassed for the biopsy. That always makes mommy VERY nervous. Dr. Dave called back at 3 PM to let us know that it’s JUST FAT!! The technical term is a feline lipoma. You can read about pet limpomas here. We are just so relieved!! We were totally preparing for the worst. The devastating “C” word. We’re SO SO thankful it’s not that. We’ll be keeping an eye on it going forward but for now it’s not a health risk and completely benign.
